Exciting News!

Dog (Excited Dog)We are excited to announce that Evangelist Rodney Betts of Durham, NC will be back with us this Tuesday night at 7:30 P.M. That’s right! This will be ONE NIGHT ONLY and you don’t want to miss it! Bro. Betts, along with his wife, will be with us for our Tuesday evening service on Jan. 2nd.

Bro. Betts will be preaching, his wife will be singing, and you will be blessed. Please tell a friend and make plans to join us for this very special service. This will be a great way to begin your New Year!

Low Battery?

Battery DeadIt was one of those days. I went to start my car and it wouldn’t start because my key fob battery was low. Throughout the course of the day my phone battery died and I was unable to make or receive calls. I had no charger with me and neither did anyone else nearby.

How many times this has happened lately. I go to use the cordless drill; battery dead. The kids go to ride their 12 volt atv or car; same story.

This is the time of the year when I like to replace my smoke alarm batteries, so I decided to do just that. Guess what? No smoke alarm! Now that’s a problem. Not sure what happened there. Not even sure what that has to do with this post, but if you’ve seen my smoke alarm (uh um.. Brendan, Logan, or Harrison), please return it or tell me where it is.

What about you? How many times do you feel like your battery has ran low? What about today? Why not join us this Tuesday evening at 7:30 for a re-charge? Even if you’re feeling fine, it may not hurt to go ahead and make certain you have a full charge for what may lie ahead.

Thanks for reading and we hope to see you this evening! – Pastor Fox

Thanksgiving Social

Thanksgiving Social (11-14-17)We want to extend an invitation for you to join us this Tuesday evening for our Thanksgiving Social. We will be meeting at The Venue and Company located at 15483 Lee Hwy, Bristol, VA at 7:00 P.M. and we would love to have you with us.

This will simply be a time to enjoy the company of friends, new and old, in a relaxed and informal setting. A time of food and fellowship. You do not need to dress up. We want to take time out and celebrate this season with you and give God thanks for His many blessings.

We understand that many will soon be feasting on Turkey, dressing, and all the fixin’s with their families, but we wanted to spend a portion of the holiday season with you as well. With that in mind, the menu will vary from a typical Thanksgiving meal. There will be pulled pork sandwiches, ham sliders, chicken salad sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, various desserts, and Coke products to drink. We will have some activities planned for children so that people of all ages can enjoy the evening.

Some do not have an extended family to spend this season with and we want you to come and feel a part of our family. Please do not feel like you need to be a member to attend. This is intended for everyone to come and enjoy. We expect the event to be completed by 8:30, but you are welcome to leave at your leisure. We do hope to see you there!

Pick Me Up

Lady Lifting Child In Air

Anyone need a little “pick me up?” If so, join us this Tuesday evening for an uplifting time in the Word of God. You will be encouraged and have your faith renewed to face the challenges of life.

Life has a way of knocking you down sometimes. Situations arise that can simply take the wind out of your sails. It’s in times like this we need a place we can turn to. I’m glad to know, as the psalmist recognized, “my help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth” (Ps. 121:2).

We look forward to being with you this evening. Bible Study begins at 7:30, but you are welcome (and encouraged) to come early for pre-service prayer. Doors will open at 7:00 P.M. Stop by tonight and take just a little of your time to be refreshed in your spirit. It will be worth your effort. You will be glad you came and we will too!

ReChargeSometimes life can just drain you if you allow it to. There’s nothing like a Tuesday night Bible Study to recharge your battery and renew your faith!

Tuesdays are inspiring, encouraging, and enlightening as we are uplifted by the Word of God, renewed by the Spirit of the Lord, and refreshed by the fellowship of the saints.

Won’t you join us this Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.M. for a time of prayer, Bible study, and fellowship? We believe you will be blessed to be a part and we know that we will be blessed by your attendance.

Below are some Scriptures for your consideration:

  • Ephesians 4:23  “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”
  • Psalm 23:3 “He restoreth my soul.”
  • 2 Corinthians 4:16 “Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”
  • Jeremiah 31:25 “For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”

Thank you for reading and we look forward to seeing you!

grow-2Please join us this coming Tuesday evening as we continue our series “Grow” which has been our theme for 2016. We will examine some principles for growth found in the Word of God. This study could help launch us into the next phase of spiritual and numerical growth and you don’t want to miss it.

If you know of someone who would like to grow in their Christian walk, please invite them to join you. If you want to be a part of a growing church that is seeking not only to grow in number, but to experience all that God has for them, come check us out.

You are welcome to come and be a part of this Bible study regardless of who you are or where you are from. We will do our best to make you welcome and set you at ease while we look into the Word of God together.

Bible Study begins at 7:30, but the doors will open at 7:00 P.M. for those who want to come early to pray. We look forward to seeing you!

fruitfulLast Tuesday we began a lesson series entitled “Fruitful” and we are looking forward to Part 2 of that series tonight. Scripture is clear that it is certainly the will of God that we are productive Christians. We will not truly be fulfilled and neither will God be pleased with less.

As I recall, our Lord cursed the fig tree for not being productive while it was producing leaves (Mark 11:12-14). Typically when there were leaves on a fig tree, there would be figs. The tree was advertising to be something it was not. The Bible also bears out that we would know a tree by the fruit it produces (Matt. 7:20). An apple tree will not produce bananas. As Christians, our words and deeds must match. We need to be a light in a dark world. We need to make a difference in our generation. We can with God’s help. We get that help from His Word and through spending time with Him. We are not good nor can we produce any good within ourselves. God wants to help us because He desires you and I to be fruitful.

Won’t you join us this evening as we continue this important series from the Word of God? Let’s study together. Let’s fellowship together. Let’s pray together. We look forward to spending a portion of our evening with you.

Running on Empty?

Empty TankDo you feel like you’re drained and the week is really just beginning? Life has a way to deplete your energy and wear on your emotions. That’s why we need to come together regularly for a “fill-up.” We all need to be renewed, refilled, and “refueled.”

We invite you to join us for Bible Study this evening at 15540 Lee Highway. It starts at 7:30, but pre-service prayer is at 7:00. We are conveniently located in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. If our parking lot is full, these good neighbors said you could park in their lot.

Please join us as we fill up on the Word of God and are renewed by the Spirit of God. We look forward to seeing you!

Bible Study!!!

Excited GirlYes! To all of the grammar critics, the exclamation marks should be in the title! By all means! I mean, come on! It’s Tuesday and that means there is Bible Study tonight!

Exclamation marks are to show a forceful way of speaking or a strong feeling (according to merriam-webster.com). An exclamation mark shows excitement and I am excited about Bible Study tonight!

I hope you plan on coming. It starts at 7:30, but will be preceded by pre-service prayer at 7:00 and you are welcome to join us then if you’d like. We are located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. Both of these businesses invite you to use their paved lots for parking if our lot is full. (Our lot doesn’t actually have to be full, you may just like their lot better than ours. That’s okay, we are not that easily offended.)

We have plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and plenty of love. You will find plenty of mercy, plenty of grace, plenty of help and healing in the presence of the Lord. We look forward to being with you this evening! (Oops! Did it again without thinking! I just couldn’t help it when I thought about being with you I automatically put an exclamation mark.)

Refresh (Recap)

Refresh (Water 3)Yesterday the title of the blog post was simply “Refresh.” It was referring to the regularly scheduled Tuesday night Bible Study. Let me say that to me, Tuesday evenings really are a time of refreshing in the presence of the Lord and last night was no different. If you were there, I hope you feel the same.

In the closing of the lesson on Repentance, I mentioned the Scripture in Acts 3:19. That Scripture states, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” There is nothing so refreshing as the feeling after having repented of your sins. As the Word of God came alive again to us last evening, I felt that “repentant spirit” and attempted to apply that Word to my heart. I must say there’s nothing like that clean feeling when we do so. No wonder the Bible talks about the “washing of water by the Word.” The Word of God once applied should leave us feeling clean within.

So, it really was a time of refreshing due to the topic at hand and the application thereof. Not only that, but there are some other Scriptures that come to mind regarding this subject. I thought of how Apostle Paul referenced some folks in 1 Corinthians 16:17-18, and he says of them; “they have refreshed my spirit and yours.” I thought about that and it’s true that there are just some folks that seem to refresh our spirits. That’s the way I felt after being with the people of God last night. Not only is the Word refreshing to us, but true Christians should refresh one another. They lift one another. They strengthen one another. Last night as I was leaving quite some time after the Bible Study had ended and the service had been dismissed, I left the building in the midst of chatter and laughter and it made my heart glad. Glad that folks wanted to be there. They enjoyed the Word and now were enjoying one another. That’s really the way it should be!

One other Scripture reference that I will point out is found in Isaiah 28:11-12. It says “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” This was of course a prophecy about the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. I was reminded by this Scripture and also by the Spirit of the Lord I felt throughout the Bible Study, that the Holy Ghost is so refreshing to our soul. I’m also reminded that we must always allow room for Him to work among us and never “quench the Spirit” (1 Thess. 5:19). There are thirsty souls in this world that need the Spirit of the Lord to refresh them when they come. It doesn’t matter if it is Tuesday evening or a Sunday afternoon worship service, the Holy Ghost must be welcome among us!

This has been a lengthy post, but my heart is full this morning. It’s full of gratitude. I’m thankful for the Word that is so refreshing to my spirit. I’m thankful for the presence of God that satisfies my thirsty soul. I’m thankful for you. Each of you that are so faithful to come and refresh me with your words, your graciousness, your smile, and your presence.

I’ll see you Sunday!
