Class on the Grass

Class on the GrassThis coming Sunday (9/24) is the first day of Fall and what a beautiful day it is going to be. The weather is supposed to be in the upper 80’s and clear. There will probably not be many more Sundays quite that warm as we are approaching the cooler months and we want the children to be able to enjoy the sunshine while they learn about the Word of God. We are calling this “Class on the Grass” (although they do not have to sit on the grass).

Most children love outdoors and they will enjoy learning  about God and His ways in a fun and exciting atmosphere while the adults enjoy the comforts of an air conditioned building. We will begin with a worship service for all ages and then we will dismiss the children to go outside with their teachers for a time of instruction.

Young or not so young, there’s a place for you at The Apostolic of Abingdon this coming Sunday. Tell a friend about it and come  worship with us! Service begins at 2:00, but doors open at 1:30 P.M. for those who can come early to pray. We look forward to seeing each of you!

Sermons from Psalms

Psalms

Make plans to join us this Tuesday evening as we continue with our Sermons From Psalms study. We have been exploring the beauty of Psalms chapter 1 and we would love to have you with us as we intend to complete this chapter.

Tuesdays are a highlight in our week. The Bible Study nights at The Apostolics of Abingdon are both enlightening and encouraging. It’s a good way just to lighten your load and help you get a little relief from the challenges of life. It’s a time to step aside from the daily routines and get a “fresh breath of air.”  We relax and enjoy the company of others and most importantly, the presence of God. We pray together, laugh together, rejoice together, and sometimes even cry together. There’s nothing quite like it!

Why not give it a try this Tuesday evening? It could be the very thing you’re looking for to help you through some tough times that life presents us. It may just be a good opportunity to connect with others that have a desire to learn more about God and His Word. Bible Study begins at 7:30, but doors open at 7:00 for those who can come early to pray. We look forward to our time together with you!

The Finish Line

Finish Line

That will be our focus (“Lord willing”) this Sunday. We plan to discuss some keys from the Word of God to making it all the way. We are nearing the finish line and we certainly don’t want to stop short of finishing the race.

Please join us this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 for an encouraging time in the Word of God. Bring a friend and come worship the Lord with us!

Do I Have To?

Girl with BroccoliGoing to church should be more than a have to situation; it should be a get to! Church does not have to be bland and boring. Sunday service does not have to start at ten o’clock sharp and end at twelve o’clock dull. The Psalmist David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1). Church can be exciting and engaging! It can be something you look forward to and not dread.

For some, going to church and enduring the lifeless singing and heartless preaching can seem more like a hostage situation. Singing that doesn’t promote heartfelt worship toward God and allow the participants opportunity to express their gratitude toward that God seems like a waste of time to many. Sermons that do not come from the heart never touch the heart and therefore parishoners are leaving the same way they came. Sitting through a lengthy service that leaves folks unchanged and unchallenged is pointless to those who then seek fulfillment by another means.

If you have tried religion and it left you disappointed, let me invite you to worship with us. If you are attending a church out of obligation, but it’s leaving you empty and unchanged, please visit with us soon.

We offer Sunday Word and Worship at 2:00 P.M. and Tuesday evening Bible Study at 7:30 P.M. We would love to have you to join us at your earliest convenience. While you are considering our invitation, why not take a few minutes and get familiar with us by visiting the other tabs at the top of this page. You will want to click on the What To Expect tab as there is some pertinent information concerning your visit. If you have any questions we also encourage you to contact us via the email or phone number listed and we will attempt to answer your questions in a timely manner.

The church is conveniently located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. If you are traveling on I-81, you can use Exit 10. We look forward to seeing you!

“O taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

Pick Me Up

Lady Lifting Child In Air

Anyone need a little “pick me up?” If so, join us this Tuesday evening for an uplifting time in the Word of God. You will be encouraged and have your faith renewed to face the challenges of life.

Life has a way of knocking you down sometimes. Situations arise that can simply take the wind out of your sails. It’s in times like this we need a place we can turn to. I’m glad to know, as the psalmist recognized, “my help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth” (Ps. 121:2).

We look forward to being with you this evening. Bible Study begins at 7:30, but you are welcome (and encouraged) to come early for pre-service prayer. Doors will open at 7:00 P.M. Stop by tonight and take just a little of your time to be refreshed in your spirit. It will be worth your effort. You will be glad you came and we will too!

Sunday School Outside

Kids OutsideEvery service is unique and every service is special at The Apostolics of Abingdon, but tomorrow is going to be especially unique for the children who attend. While the adults are enjoying the Word of God inside, the children will be having class outside. They will have a good time learning from the Bible while enjoying God’s creation.

We invite you to come and bring your family to our 2:00 P.M. Word and Worship service this Sunday. It will be an exciting time for all to attend. We look forward to seeing you!

Life Can Be Tough

Suffering (Lady)Life sure has it’s share of troubles and trials. Job 14:1 states, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” Pain is not prejudice. No one is exempt. Suffering comes to all is some form or fashion. Whether it is physical, emotional, financial, or otherwise, each of us have experienced it on some level.

Peter wrote and said, “think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you” (1 Pet. 4:12). Christians are not immune to trouble, but we had trouble before we came to know the Lord. We can certainly witness that we would rather face problems with God on our side than outside of the safety of the church.

Even though we understand that suffering is part of life, we do need a little help sometimes. If you’re dealing with difficulties or know someone that is, Tuesday evening is a good time to come and find some answers through the Word of God.

We encourage you to join others who are facing situations of all sorts, but know where to get the help they need. Whether you are dealing with sickness, loss, or relationships that are strained, God’s Word has the answers. His presence can comfort, strengthen, and encourage you. His church will love you, accept you, and pray for you. Don’t go it alone. Come and join us Tuesday evening at 7:30. Come early for pre-service prayer if you can. Doors open at 7:00 P.M. We look forward to seeing you!
