Running on Empty?

Empty TankDo you feel like you’re drained and the week is really just beginning? Life has a way to deplete your energy and wear on your emotions. That’s why we need to come together regularly for a “fill-up.” We all need to be renewed, refilled, and “refueled.”

We invite you to join us for Bible Study this evening at 15540 Lee Highway. It starts at 7:30, but pre-service prayer is at 7:00. We are conveniently located in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. If our parking lot is full, these good neighbors said you could park in their lot.

Please join us as we fill up on the Word of God and are renewed by the Spirit of God. We look forward to seeing you!

Friday Night Church

friday night worshipWe will be having church this Friday night at 7:30 and we want you to come! Why not start your Memorial Day weekend by worshiping the Lord with us?  We are looking forward to a great evening of worship and the Word, but it will even be better if you would join us.

We are conveniently located between Bristol and Abingdon. The address is 15540 Lee Highway and we are next door to Skyland Coin and Jewelry. As a matter of fact, if our parking lot is full, these good neighbors welcome you to park in their lot.

Doors will open at 7:00 for pre-service prayer and you are welcome to join us for that as well. Bring a friend and let’s have church!

Grow #2It is our desire at The Apostolics of Abingdon to grow both spiritually and numerically. As a matter of fact, our theme for 2016 is simply “Grow.” This word speaks to us of development. It means to increase in size or substance. It also means to become greater or larger. One dictionary definition I read was “to come to be by degrees; become.”

It’s our desire to see the saints develop and reach their full potential in Christ; to become all they can be. It is also our desire to see souls added to the church and therefore saved from an eternal hell.

It has been said that growth is intentional. There should be within every child of God a “divine discontentment” that says I will not be satisfied to remain unchanged for a prolonged period of time. I’m reminded of a Scripture in Philippians 3:12-14:
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

There should be that “pursuit” within each of us. We should all “follow after.” We must “press” toward the mark. We also understand by the Word of God that if we “draw nigh” to God, He will “draw nigh” to us (James 4:8). It’s really up to you and I how close we want to get.

Would you join me in the pursuit of a deeper spiritual journey? Would you unite with me to “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?” Be intentional. Set aside time each day for prayer and devotion. If possible, discuss your Bible reading with those in your household. Just as it’s easier to diet when everyone in the house is doing it together, it may help to motivate each other in Bible reading and prayer. Be conscious of the appetite you are feeding. If you feed the spiritual man, he is the one that will grow and develop.

Will you help us reach the lost by sharing the good news of salvation with another? Invite them to attend Bible Study with you on Tuesday evening. Tell them how exciting it is and how they can apply the Word to help them on the job, in their family, and just facing the tough stuff of life.

Maybe you’re reading this having never acquainted yourself with us. Take a moment to browse the tabs at the top of the page, but don’t stop there. Please come and join us on this spiritual journey we are on. We are a group of people from various walks of life, but each of us with a desire to know God better.

The sooner you come, the better. We have Bible Study this Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.M. although most folks meet at 7:00 for a time of pre-service prayer and we would welcome you to join us for that as well. We are located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. If our parking lot is full, you are welcome to park in either of these businesses’ lots. Come grow with us!
