Book Quotations

Why Revival TarriesIn a previous post, which you can read here, I recommended some books. On that list was the book entitled “Why Revival Tarries” by Leonard Ravenhill. In case you have been unable to familiarize yourself with this good book, I wanted to share some quotations from it below:

  1. “There is a world of difference between knowing the Word of God and knowing the God of the Word.” (This coincides well with some thoughts conveyed in our Tuesday evening Bible Study.)
  2. “We appease sin, but do not oppose it.”
  3. “The people who are not praying are straying.”
  4. “Poverty-stricken as the Church is today in many things, she is most stricken here, in the place of prayer.”
  5. “A sinning man will stop praying, and a praying man will stop sinning.”
  6. “Prayer is profoundly simple and simply profound.”
  7. “The brutal, soul-shaking truth is that we are so earthly minded we are of no heavenly use.”
  8. “Because the church has lost Holy Ghost fire, men go to hell-fire!”
  9. “We know Elijah was a man of like passions as we are, but alas! we are not men of prayer as he was!”
  10. “Notice, we never pray for folks we gossip about, and we never gossip about folk for whom we pray!”

While there are plenty more quotes that are worthy of sharing, I will withhold for the time being. This is a mere sampling of the rich contents found in the pages of this soul-stirring book.

Plowed Parking Lot (Bulldozer)We are looking forward to a great time in Bible Study Tuesday evening and trust that everyone will be able to make it out. The temperature has warmed up which is helping the snow to melt. Temps are predicted to stay above freezing until long after we will be home for service so it will be a good night to join us.

The parking lot is cleared as well as the entrance to the church. If our lot is full (we hope it is), Economy Inn has volunteered to let us park in theirs. This paved lot adjoins the church property and should be convenient parking for everyone. They only request that we do not block the dumpster.

Please join us as we open our Bibles and our hearts and study the Word of God together. Bible Study begins at 7:30, but you are welcome to join us for pre-service prayer at 7:00. We look forward to seeing you!

Service Cancelled

No Church Sunday

Due to the aftermath of this winter storm and secondary road conditions, there will be no Sunday service at The Apostolics of Abingdon. Please remember to pray for one another and plan on being there for Tuesday Bible Study at 7:30 P.M.

Brave the Cold

Dogs with SweatersWe are looking forward to a good time this evening in Bible Study. It’s always exciting to fellowship with God’s people and enjoy the study of God’s Word together.

The temperature may be a little on the chilly side this evening, but we are expecting the building to be warm and the fire of the Spirit to burn in our hearts. Make plans to join us tonight at 7:30 P.M. for an exciting study!

Welcome Home

Welcome Home (Mat & Newspaper)Welcome Home! It was our theme for 2015, but we are not discarding it for the new year. We will introduce our new theme soon, but we want “Welcome Home” to be in the heart of our assembly and whatever themes are to follow will merely be an addition to it.

At The Apostolics of Abingdon, we strive to make everyone feel welcome and assured that there is a place that they can fit; a place where they belong. We don’t want that to ever change. If you should come tonight (by the way we hope you do. It’s a wonderful way to spend a Tuesday evening), you will likely find folks from various walks of life, yet coming together for a common purpose. You will see people that are not necessarily “members” (some of them are members elsewhere), but they have a real desire for the Word of God and for a better relationship with Almighty God.

Wherever you are in life, we welcome you! It matters not your social status, your religious background (or lack thereof), the color of your skin, or the size of your bank account (or degree of debt), we welcome you!

Tonight would be a good night to come fellowship with us. Get to know us and allow us the same privilege with you. It’s gonna be a great evening! Bible Study begins at 7:30 P.M. If you should arrive early, we welcome you to unite in pre-service prayer. We look forward to spending an evening with you, and most importantly; us spending an evening with the Lord!

Happy New Year!

2016We trust your new year has gotten off to a great start and things are going well for you. We do want to take this opportunity to invite you to start your new year with us by joining us in Tuesday evening Bible Study. We will begin at 7:30 P.M. with pre-service prayer at 7:00.

This past year was fantastic year for us at The Apostolics of Abingdon and we are believing God for an even greater year in 2016. We would love for you to be a part of what God is doing. We are expecting this to be a year of growth both numerically and spiritually. If you want to grow spiritually and you would love to be a part of a growing congregation, we invite you to come see what we are all about.

We are located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Skyland Coin and Jewelry and Economy Inn. Parking is also available in either of these two businesses’ lots. We look forward to seeing you!
