Eatin’ Places
Bonefire Smokehouse – This is a neat little spot with good food & really good sweet tea. Their cornbread fritters alone are worth the trip! They also have a barbecue sauce bar to choose your own flavor. I recommend going before evening because they do have a bar with occassional live entertainment. It’s in the heart of Abingdon @ 260 W Main St, Abingdon, VA.
Ellis Soda Shoppe & Grill – If you want to go back in time to another era where drug store soda fountains were popular, people were friendly, and milk shakes were authentic, this place is for you! This would be a good place to break for lunch as you take a stroll through beautiful downtown Abingdon. http://ellissodashoppe.com
Burger Bar – An area landmark since 1942. If you want to experience a delicious burger in a neat atmosphere, you will probably enjoy this diner in the heart of downtown Bristol. http://www.theoriginalburgerbar.com
Blackbird Bakery – A MUST stop. It’s open 24/7 and it’s located at 56 Piedmont Ave which is in downtown Bristol. They have really good ice cream too! http://blackbirdbakerybristol.com
Southern Churn – If you like delicious, fresh, home made ice cream with an old fashioned, hand-cranked taste this place is for you. They also have homemade fudge, fresh roasted nuts, and bulk candies. http://www.thesouthernchurn.com
Cootie Brown’s – This is a unique dining experience with a nice variety of menu options. They also have awesome desserts! http://www.cootiebrowns.com/bristol

If you are staying in Bristol, there are plenty of chain restaurant options without leaving town. For those staying at the Courtyard by Marriott on Linden Drive, you will find nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Nearby Towns with Great Attractions/Shopping:
Kingsport, TN is about 25 minutes away and is a good place to go for shopping (http://visitkingsport.com). Johnson City is a nice town (approx. 35 min) and has plenty of shopping and restaurants. http://visitjohnsoncitytn.com

Abingdon itself is a scenic town with boutique shops and restaurants that’s worth experiencing if you have the time. Of course, the most important and exciting event transpiring will be the church services. We are looking forward to having good, old-fashioned church and we are glad you are coming to help make that happen!

We do want you to enjoy your time with us and if there’s anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, please let us know. Now come on, let’s have church!

  1. Brother Fox– WAYYY ahead of the curve! What a preacher and visionary! Plus, you’re pretty cool! 😄 Another great reason to visit Abingdon should include – it’s the home of Reverend Tim Fox. What a blessed church and community!

    • Thank you Bro. Hair. You are kind. God bless!
