Pastoral Installation Celebration

Fox FamilyMark your calendars and spread the word! We will be having pastoral installation services October 15th and 16th. The installation service will be Thursday, Oct. 15th with Rev. Gary Blankenship as the guest speaker. Friday night, Oct. 16th, the installation celebration will continue with Rev. Nathan Dudley as the guest speaker. Services both nights will begin at 7:30 P.M.

This is going to be a great time of worship, the Word, and fellowship as we celebrate what God is doing among us. What started as an outreach service in October of 2013 has developed into a church and will be made official with the “laying on of the hands by the presbytery” (1 Timothy 4:14).

The Holy Ghost has certainly sanctioned this union and the assembly has recognized it, but this will be a time when the Apostolic community endorses it which is an integral part of the process and necessary for our success. We, in turn, are recognizing our inclusion in the part of the larger body of Christ.

We do invite our friends and family to join us in this landmark event. If you are traveling from out of town below is some information to assist you with lodging and travel:

Need A Stress Reliever?

Stressed-Business-WomanStressed out already and it’s only Tuesday? We have the perfect “stress reliever.” There’s nothing like Tuesday evening Bible Study to relieve stress and give you courage to face the challenges of the week.

Tuesdays are encouraging, enjoyable, and enlightening. There’s no better place to be than in church with folks who will make you feel welcome and wanted. A place where the Word will be taught, Jesus Christ will be lifted up, and your spiritual man will be strengthened.

We invite you and encourage you to put everything else aside and enjoy an evening with us. You will be glad you did and we will too. We are located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Economy Inn and Skyland Coin and Jewelry. Parking is available on the right side of the church as well as overflow parking at Skyland Coin and Jewelry. Bible Study begins at 7:30, but you are welcome to join us for pre-service prayer at 7:00.

A Balanced Church

Balance (Scales)Today completed our series on Balance as we discussed A Balanced Church. We have discovered throughout these few lessons that the Bible has much to say about balance. The book of Job poses the question; “Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?” (Job 37:16) God knows something about balance. Isaiah asks; “Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?” (Is. 40:12) We can look at creation and see how He positioned the Alps, Rockies, Appalachian Mountains, and the  Cascades along with other mountain regions and see balance portrayed before our eyes.

We read about it in Scriptures like “behold the goodness and severity of God” (Rom. 11:22).  It’s revealed in the Tabernacle in the wilderness as it took center stage and paints us a picture of how God and the church should be our focal point today. We can see balance as we view the “wheel in the middle of the wheel” in the book of Ezekiel.

I see a picture of balance in the church as we look at the siblings Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. The church needs the heart of Mary, the hands of Martha, and the witness of Lazarus. I also see it in the pattern set for us in Acts 2:42; “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Note that doctrine was first in the order, however.)

I close by leaving you other Scriptures to ponder (without commentary) that speaks to me of the same:

Heb. 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Ps. 85:10
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
James 3:17-18
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Ps. 37:37
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
Matt. 5:8
Blessed are the PURE in HEART.
Matt. 5:9
Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS.

Thanks for reading our Bible study recap. Thanks for striving with me to remain a balanced church. Now go have some good clean fun! (You had to be there!)

Balancing Life

Balance (Man on Tightrope)Life can be a balancing act! There are so many things in the mix; God, family, career, friends, and the list goes on. We have so many responsibilities, involvements, and activities that it can be hard to juggle it all. The book of Job asks the question; “Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds? (Job 37:16).  It’s a rhetorical question because we certainly do not know, but God knows. My point is, a God that can keep this vast universe in balance can surely help us to balance our lives. He can and He will if you allow Him to.

We trust we will get some help through His Word this evening. Join us tonight at 7:30 as we discuss this topic of balance in our lives. We are located at 15540 Lee Highway in between Economy Inn and Skyland Coin and Jewelry. You are also welcome to join the saints for pre-service prayer at 7:00. We look forward to seeing you!
